The Grapes were Sour...

I happened to revisit the story of the fox and the sour grapes, more than once in close succession, and each time I picked again a casual thread of reflection, till the vague thoughts of my mind gave way to something vivid.

A fox was hungry . She saw a bunch of grapes. She jumped to get them. She jumped again and again but could not get them. She went away saying that the grapes are sour.
The moral being- It is easy to despise what you cannot get.

We have been brought up thinking how wrong the fox is. The grapes need not really be sour after all. So wrong to scorn, to revile something.

But does it matter if the grapes were in fact sweet? It was really sour for the fox! Something that could not remove the hunger of the fox definitely left a sourness in its heart. The grapes were sour...

Well, if the fox did think so while going on its way, it definitely would have become easier for her to make peace with unfulfilled wishes and move on to new hopes.

@Shreya- Thank u :)
@Alpana- The post and Quote of yours I read today I feel reflected this fact in life. The sour ones are better left than made a priority,or you would be forever jumping for them like a fool while they bother the least and keep you in queue

Yes, this is a nice message!! It is like, 'move on buddy, the grapes are sour!! Better not to eat it than tasting the sourness!!' :)

I've never thought much about it until you've brought it into my attention.

Somehow, I'm not sure if it's but natural for people to react in such a way when he/she isn't able to get something.

But then again, it also takes time for people to mature and truly understand how things are in this world. Or they may in fact, go on without being explained.

Nice thought! It is a question of perception a glass half full or glass half empty!

It's all in our minds...At that time, the grapes were sour for the Fox because she couldn't get them. For someone else they might have been the sweetest grapes ever, those who could get to them. Interesting post, thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure if the grapes were sour, but it is bummer when you can't figure out how to get them. The other side is how much time are you willing to waste trying for the unreachable. Learning to work within your means is so very important, besides the grapes may be lower on the other side.

Like we do in our real life, fox has done the same.. If we get failure time and again, we develop sourness in our heart and mind in no tym.. :)
nice post with a nice thought.. :) <3

@Jovy, It is sourness in life to pursue the unavailable, so move on
@Melissa, It does help to move on though to more accessibe things
@Rahul, Perception, helps, it harms. Whatever helps is the one to adopt :)
@Sulekha. Dot on, the world is all about how we percieve it
@Jan More often "The Grapes are sour"is a better statement than "GRAPES are sour"
@Monu- Even generalising and becoming a cinic is better in some cases than forever running after something that is beyond access just because u cant get to scorn it and forget it
