A Valentine-For the Loved or the unloved?

Valentine day is named after St. Valentine. I read, that St. Valentine a PRIEST, supported love, romance and marriage and performed marriages in a time in Rome when Marriage had been outlawed! He was also a sort of pen friend to a young blind girl, being a light in her darkness. In his last letter to her, before his execution, he addressed himself as 'your Valentine'.

Valentine day, a day of celebration of love, is not just for couples, it's about being there for all the lonely souls, it;s about being there for oneself.

There might be so many lonely folk on a valentine day! They might not even be lucky enough to get a good soul like 'St. Valentine as a friend in their loneliness, but someone they should always have is their own selves. Is that easy? If it were, there would be no suicides ever! Whatever the reason for suicides, the basic reason is that one forgets to love ones own self! Everybody in the world may be pointing at our faults, but each of us is a temple of God. The first duty of every person is towards one's own self, to discover one's own potential that nobody else has a duty to notice; a duty to love oneself. in a world where nobody else may show the capability to truly love another.

So, I write a poem dedicated to all those who might have often found themselves lonely on Valentine day

MY BEST VALENTINE

It's a day of Love, a day to give
A day of friendship, joy to live
But first I have a Heart of Mine!
I treat it well, my Valentine

It cares for all, it cries for peace
It bleeds for love, it smiles with ease
And then all lone the day?! It's fine...
as 'I', am my best Valentine!

It mends my dream, eases my frown
It holds my wishes, n'er let's me down
All darkness, it's my one sunshine!
Yes 'Me', my very best Valentine...

Thanks for calling my attention on this blog...first the poem is very You, I can discern that inside you.
Being a well-rounded and "enlighten" individual...have I said that you deserve that title as Thinking Space? Bcoz You allow us to think...not the common usual blogger But the blogger to watch!
That is why I am not afraid to raise issue with you...bcoz I know it will not be thrown to the pigs.

Now, for purposes of discussion about the identity of Valentine, the one you've written is perhaps the closest to the truth...his historical life had been clouded..and I've notice that in most writings that fact you have shared was often mention. So maybe it is the truth...or some of it. I have no arguments about the good deeds of this guy. He is a remarkable person. And really brave to go against the system...
What I do not like is the Valentine tradition...over the years it mingles with other beliefs and eventually the worship of Greek gods and Roman gods are inserted to his suppose commemorations. Which is of course idolatry. What in the world is Cupid or Eros doing in his Valentine card? Eros came the word erotica isn't it? Even the common red heart shape...is attached to witch-craft or wiccan, and would be a lengthy discussion...so let it be some other time.
I have a draft about this pagan Valentine traditions, that I've been weighing if I should publish or not. Who would like to destroy something that Lover's look forward to each year? I will be accused again of being a "spoiler" and unromantic. So, I guess it will just sit there for awhile until my head burst again. Hahaha...
Now seriously Jerly, continue exploring the mind but don't forget your heart's desire.

Wow Fher :) I know it is always good to look up the origins, even of the heart shape! Yet often it is better as you agree to take things more lightly. Life is easier when taken lightly. There is no end to what we may find offensive and there is no end to what we may find a joy. It is as we choose. Nothing is anything except what our opinion makes of it :)

...and that is why there is Thinking Space. :)
To bring forward the dark issue into the light.
As of now, maybe we are both aiming for the same goal...yet travel on a different vehicle. The good news is we are Both happy seeing how the other progress...
But can we take a vow my friend?
if ever one of us falter or give up the driving...could you take the wheel for me and I'll take the wheel for you?
Maybe we can join the ride and call this The Thinking Space of Realizationism ...hahaha.
That's right take things lightly.

Love,love this post Jerly :)!
I've to make a mental note to read this post/poem on the next Valentine's Day :)!

But,you know what, the more I'm learning to have a good relationship with myself and the more I appreciate my
alone-time,the more I miss a good man in my life that would love me just as I am.

Kiss,kiss...

I think when we are happy in our own company; people come into our lives. I have heard it said like that. SO...wish that for u!
